It's been a long time...

Met up with college buddies and balikbayans yesterday. First up, I met up with college buddies in Dampa, Macapagal. We had a seafood-fest there. Jonki, Doths and I bought the food we wanted to eat. In short, namalengke ang tatlong walang alam sa pamamalengke. hehehe Jonki bought small shells for halaan daw. I dunno what that is coz I don't eat it. Then we bought swahe shrimps and some squid, Jonki said these were the yummy kind of shrimps so we bought it. There were a lot in 1 kilo, I was quite surprised about that. Then we bought the tuna belly. We don't know how to look for fresh tuna, for all we know we were being duped. All the tuna there looked dry and pale, so not sure if those were any good either. Next, we bought the yummy alimangos. Again, we didn't know how to look for fresh ones with lots of meat in it. So we just picked one vendor and asked her as if we were experts on the alimangos she was selling. But I think the lost looks on all our faces were a give away that we were beginners in pamamalengke. She said that male or bakla alimangos were the best ones. SO we just took her word for it that those were indeed bakla alimangos.

We were supposed to eat at Aling Tonya's, but it was so jampacked. In waiting for a table, we were number 15, we couldn't wait that long as we were already famished. The lady said, we should've reserved seats beforehand so we could've gotten a table. So to our dismay, we looked for another restaurant, Trinity came to mind as this was the same restaurant we used to eat at Market Market. It was a very hearty and sumptuous feast indeed. I was wondering what the difference would be if we ate at Aling Tonya's instead in Trinity. Next visit maybe and next time, I'll bring someone na marunong na mamalengke. hehehe

After eating, we said our goodbyes and set up our next meeting which everybody jokingly said to be another 3 years from now, it has to be in Makati, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY we all should not be singles anymore when we all see each other again. hehehe Good Luck to all of us then! hihihi

Second meeting was in Donish's "cozy" pad with Augs, Raz, Jojo and the tropa. hehehe I say it's a new look of the place, much more organized compared to last time. Spacious.. and now, I can also call it, "cozy". hehehe Sang our hearts out 'till wee hours of the morning, we could've lasted more if not for the others going to tralala land at an early time. Leaving Don and I singing songs that we're tired of singing na. hehehe Ya'll be in Boracay next week right? I guess our next gimik will be on the outing na huh?

Sunday School Teacher demolishes Rivals

Played poker on the other side of the fence today during lunch break. hehehe Good to have the guys back playing like the good 'ol times, and with a newbie in tow as well. As for the result, still right on theory that the newbies always take the game in poker. We were all demolished by the newbie. The Sunday School Teacher (that's her moniker on every game now) took out the angas Astraboy, Mr. Ho the floating casino, Dona Soledad, Marcus Aurelius and now just after one game they become bitter rivals, Batang Edison! hehehe

Hope to have more sessions with you guys. Great Hands and Great Plays were shown from everyone even if we haven't played in a long time!

Yahoooo!!!! Hope The Unpredictable Chel, Ruthie Patootie and All In Joe can play with us soon. That would be a B-L-A-S-T! Original "Pasaways" on the other side of the fence. hehehe

Goodies Galore

We went to Enterworks yesterday to get the DVD and Audio CD of Rent that I asked the balikbayans (Augs and Raz) to buy for me in the US. I got sugar high and ecstatic when they gave me chocolates as pasalubong too!!! Whoopeee! Plus the pastillas de leche pasalubong that Angie got for Doths and I from Nueva Ecija, I was in SUGAR HEAVEN HIGH! hehehe As in Y-U-M--M-E-Y-Y-Y-Y!!!!! These are my uber-fav pastillas as they are long, big and sooo sweet not like the pastillas you get here in some stores that are so little that it's like you're eating nothing. As you can see in the pic below, I've consumed half of the contents. Hihihi I think everyone knows that I really, really as in really LOVE sweets.

Mwahahahahahaha I guess I'll be making lots and lots and lots of sugar high cartwheels in the coming days! Well, that is if these goodies can last for days on me. Mwahahahahhahaha

Oh yeah, one more thing, another bonus pasalubong from the balikbayans (c/o Augs) also, 4 casino chips from Las Vegas, Nevada!!!! Whoopeeeee!!!!!! I'm not sure though if these are real chips from a casino, but chips are chips and they feel and sound alright to me!!!! Poker sessions are back baby!!!! I SO miss the feel of poker chips. Now, I have a few to play with while in the office. Hehehe The addiction is slowly coming back and I hope it's here to stay. Mwahahahahahahaha

Thanks for the great pasalubong guys! Sa uulitin. :-D Mwehehehehehehehe

Anima Christi

The Anima Christi is a prayer from around the 14th century. It is still widely used after receiving the body and blood of Our Lord, Jesus Christ in Holy Communion.

A Solemn Holy Week to all...

"I love You, O my God, and my only desire is to love You until the last breath of my life. I love You, O my infinitely lovable God, and I would rather die loving You, than live without loving You. I love You, Lord and the only grace I ask is to love You eternally....My God, if my tongue cannot say in every moment that I love You, I want my heart to repeat it to You as often as I draw breath."

a reunion of some sort

last friday, lotsa events happened. First was the lunch doths and i had with mommy butch at banana leaf in rockwell. it's been a long time since we had a lunchout with mommy butch and the restaurant she recommended had good food. up to now, i'm still craving for that tilapia dish with creamy sauce. hhhmmm... yum! yum!

after office, our sportsfest had come to a close with the finals in badminton. we won the game and that was the end of oberthur's 2006 sportsfest. 'till next year i guess.

after our badminton game, we had another mini-reunion to go to. good thing i didn't get to sweat that much during the game because we had to go to greenbelt and meet old friends. we met our good 'ol college buddies jonki and chelle. We had a lot of stories to catch up on especially on chelle. hehehe it's been 3 years since we last saw her. lotsa things have happened in all our lives. as for jonki, we didn't meet for a movie this time but for dinner and talking, lots of talking. hehehe it was nice to see good 'ol friends and catching up on events. 'till we see each other again chelle legeza, i mean chelle orodio. hehehe *wink*wink* that's the only clue you will get. hehehehe we'll see each other again soon.

p.s.
yesterday, we met up with mama sands too. the blooming buntis is happy and giggly as ever. it was great seeing you sands! more get togethers to come.

Whew! That was a close one

OCS Sportsfest 2006

I had the most nerve-wracking, most challenging and most pressured badminton game last night. It was the finals in our company's sportsfest. Even if this was not even for the championship yet but a seat for 1st or 2nd place games, it felt like the championship match. We played against the team that beat us the last time. So both teams have pressure on their side because they need to beat us again and we need a comeback win from our last meeting. Also, the team of Alex and Ariel are the unbeatable team and my team was favored to win 1st place since the start of this sportsfest. So pressure was on for both teams. The guys kept on intimidating me in a funny matter since I was the only girl on the match. But one joke irked me the most. Although I know it was only a joke and this is a friendly game, but still if they said this to you that this is a man's game and no woman can match up the game play on all the players involved in this match, you will really get irked. Plus, since they are the unbeatable team, everyone kept saying easily that they're gonna win hands down now. I thought about that too actually, they really are a strong team and have beaten us before, but my teammate, Jeremie and I, are a wise team. We adjusted our strategies during play on what kept on working. Hehehe Well, of course that's my opinion. So in short, we won the game in a very close two set match (15-11; 15-14).

After the game, the other team was a wee bit mad pala, because according to them, there was a call wherein the shuttle was "allegedly out" but was called "in" and that call made them lose their concentration on the game daw. I didn't know they had sentiments like this and I thought when the match ended, we won fair and square. Well, at first, I thought that we didn't deserve to win that game because they are insinuating that we only won because we "cheated" on that call or the game was not played fair and I felt bad about that allegation. But after a few more thoughts... hehehe I came to a conclusion that they or he shouldn't have gotten themselves affected off that call. Why didn't they protest it further during the game if it was really "out"? They could've requested a "Let" or talked about just replaying the serve. Oh well, I would've had the same reaction as they did also since it really was a very, very close matched game. But still, you win some you lose some and sometimes you're on the other side of the coin. So, all I can say is, it's part of the game (like the games I've played with Joey, Mommy Weng and Doths before hehehe there were lots of times I got irked by outside calls that I thought it was "in" and that ruined my concentration hehehe A LOT!). I've seen lots of tennis and badminton matches having scenarios like this one and it's all part of the game, bad nga lang kung kaw yung naging dehado. I guess the next rematch would be on the next sportsfest na lang, i.e. if we're all still here by that time. teehee One good feeling was definitely felt last night, we gave the crowd an unforgettable, fun and exciting match.

I'm officially a RENTHEAD

Doths and I watched Rent: The Movie last night. We've been meaning to watch this movie for quite awhile now. It was just only now that it's being shown here so we watched it when we had a chance. We could've watched this in our own PCs or in DVD, but we opted to watch it in a moviehouse where the speakers are good for a musical. What a good decision it was. I will so rave this movie! It S-O R-O-C-K-S! I love musicals!!! I love every character in this movie, the barkada of Mark, Roger, Mimi, Collins, Angel, Joanne, 'Tango' Maureen and even Benny! This just further enhanced my love for the song "Seasons of Love." While hearing this song during the movie, it brought back lots of good memories and feelings from my LEAP. If I sang this song during LEAP, I'm sure I would've enrolled everybody. hehehe Right, fellow Leapers? *wink*wink* I got teary-eyed in one scene, but I just cannot, for the life of me, get serious whenever Mimi's name was mentioned, it always reminded of my previous boss and that funny character in The Drew Carey Show. It made some of the romantic scenes involving Roger and Mimi quite funny for me that I always end up snickering or grinning.

Anywayz, Rent is a new age musical applicable to our times. Now, I wish I could watch the Live Broadway Musical of this. That would be a blast! Just hearing and seeing the song SEASONS OF LOVE being sung LIVE would be a chilling and thrilling experience for me, if this will ever happen in my lifetime. Hay... I also regret missing the local production of this musical a couple of years ago. Bummer!

But like what the memorable Rent quotables says:
(1) Forget regret, or life is yours to miss
(2) No day but today
(3) Will I lose my dignity? Will someone care? Will I wake tomorow, from this nightmare?
(4) Let's celebrate, remember a year in the life of friends
(5) Measure your life in love

Hard. But I will surely try.

**Oh BTW, if you get a chance to watch the Last Full Show of this movie in Greenbelt 3, the RENTHEADS, this is what they call the "Rent enthusiasts", can join in the singing while the movie is playing! Cool right?! hehehe Imagine the whole audience joining in the singing.. with feelings!!! Lots of popcorn are sure gonna fly. ;-D** Aaaaaaaaahhhhooooooooooooouuuuuut tonight!

Questioning the Question of the Questioner

There are days when you're sublime.

There are days when you're not fine.

I'm sublime! I'm sublime!

I wish I could say it in time.

Another one for the mind:
Let the world know you as you are,
not as you think you should be,
because sooner or later,
if you are posing,
you will forget the pose,
and then where are you?

A Happy, Happy and a Happy Birthday!!! Apaul is my buddy sa mga kalokohan. hehehe Kahit na medyo bata sa akin to(medyo lang kasi bata pa naman din ako hehehe), mas mature pa to mag decision kesa sa akin. hehehe Yan ang aking choco buddy. We both love chocolates, kasundo ko to sa lahat! Well, except sa boys kasi mas lapitin talga ang bruha na to kesa talga sa akin. hahahaha She is also one of the few people na mahihingahan ko ng rants and raves ko din. Even if she's in the U.S. of A., it's nice to know that someone knows your quirks and whatnots kahit na sa YM lang kayo nakakapag-usap. Very much appreciated. Muah!
